This I Believe

Everyone is different and I respect that but I want to have fun, not sit around inside. Today, video games are getting more and more popular. E-sport athletes are getting paid millions a year and earning more amounts of money than ever before seen. Don't get me wrong, I love X box and Fortnite and all that stuff, but I don't want that to shape who I am. I want to go outside, be adventurous, scalp some tickets for a last-minute Lions game, spend time with my friends and have fun.

Being active is what keeps us alive not sitting on our couch and watching TV. To be honest, I did a good amount of "relaxation" this summer. I watched movies, played x box, and sat on the couch, but the best parts of my summer were hanging out with my friends and family by doing fun activities together. Doing activities and being spontaneous bring some of life's most precious moments.

I spend most of my summers up at my cottage sailing, kayaking, fishing, golfing, hunting, mountain biking, swimming, wakeboarding, you name it. I can't even list all the stuff we do because there are so many amazing activities that occupy my time. I like to be outside and be adventurous. At my cottage, there is no service or wifi, and to be honest I couldn't be happier. You don't need your phone and service to have an amazing time, it makes us not sit around and stare at a screen but get outside and do fun things. This past summer two of my of my best buddies came up for the Fourth of July. The 5 days they were there was nonstop fun. One day we hung out on the beach playing football, frisbee, and spike ball which got a little too intense. Another day we went biking and fishing. We also went boating and wakeboarding for hours in between all of this. We never just sat around, we were always doing something and these days were some of the best moments of my summer.

That was just the summer; the winter is a whole different story. The falling snow blankets the summer woods and hills; skiing and sledding are upon us. Boyne Highlands is a 20-minute drive away, and I like to call it my home for the winter. This year my friend and I got the most of this awesome opportunity. We probably went 10 days in a row from open to close. We had the best time. We made an edit on Youtube too which grossed over 20 views so pretty huge. We also went out to X games Aspen something my dad surprised us both with. We went snowmobiling, a Martin Garrix concert, and skied for hours on end. We went outside our comfort zone trying new tricks and going to the max height on the mountain. We were never sitting around. We made the best of our experience.

Don't sit around and watch your life go by sitting on the sidelines. Go outside, have fun, and be active. Be adventurous, be spontaneous, be with your friends and try something new. You can create some of the best memories in life by taking place in activities, not watching TV. I believe in being active.
